When do you commit full time to fx?
Hi
Following a couple of weeks lurking I thought it best dive in.
After briefly working at a forex broker last year, I suddenly found, after 31 years of being on this planet, a vocation that I might enjoy. The job itself was crap. Cold calling unsuspecting finance directors of businesses around the UK trying to sell out brokerage services. The part I really enjoyed was the morning call and technical analysis side of things.
So I went back to my old industry (not in financial services) where I knew what I was doing and on a reasonable wage, with a view to education myself on forex and saving up some money to trade myself.
This is where the problem lies. Saving the money hasn't been too much of an issue but my current job is all consuming. Finding time to study, practice strategies and absorb as much as I can from forums such as this is proving hard. Despite this I am certainly making good steps in the right direction, and might keep updating this post on my progress.
One question I guess is, if you feel you have the capacity to learn and a bit of money to trade, when is a good time to commit yourself full time to forex trading or at least your forex education? I know the correct route would be to spend years learning the art of trading and perfecting a trading strategy that suits my personality. But this is tough working a 60 hour week.
For now I am an enthusiastic part time, demo account holding newbie.

Hey John, it is good that you are on the path to become a part time trader and doing practice with demo account. There are number of traders trading part time including me. However it is not easy for us because we don't have sufficient time for trading.

It's really not a part time thing. You need to step in with both feet and spend a few months at it if you ask me... have a part time job on the weekend for steadier income.

Re: When do you commit full time to fx?
In start of my trading career I spend full time in forex market. I was free those days waiting for any job . Full time concentration increase my knowledge I came to know about different types of tradings and suitable time for them. Now with job I just spend some hours in trading. It is giving me sufficient amount as I am spending time on it.

Re: When do you commit full time to fx?
I prefer to hold my current job rather than make Forex as my full time job. In case there's something wrong with Forex, I still have some finances to hold with.

Re: When do you commit full time to fx?
I will do forex full time when I can earn consistent income. In investments we cannot guarantee higher returns. But at least we can close to that mark. Until that I would like to continue my other business as usual.
