Alpari supports the World Match Racing Tour as title sponsor
Leading sailing series renamed the Alpari World Match Racing Tour
London, UK – 27 February 2012: Alpari, a global association of companies providing online foreign exchange ("Forex", "FX"), precious metals and CFD trading services, has signed a landmark five-year global sponsorship deal with the World Match Racing Tour, the prestigious professional sailing series. The sponsorship sees the Tour renamed the Alpari World Match Racing Tour.
This multimillion-dollar partnership will help the Alpari companies worldwide bring online trading services to a much wider audience. The Alpari World Match Racing Tour visits some of Alpari’s key targets for expansion, with sailing events taking place in North America, Asia and across Europe.
Jim O’Toole, CEO of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour, today joined David Stuart from Alpari, in the City of London to announce the title sponsorship. To mark the start of the partnership a unique 3D street art project, recreating a racing scene of two boats going head to head in a winner-takes-all competition, was revealed in the City. Passing City commuters had their photos taken “on board” one of the boats.
David Stuart from Alpari said, “We are very happy to announce our partnership with the World Match Racing Tour. The Tour and Alpari have a lot in common and we’ll both be strengthening our brands by entering into this partnership. The Tour appeals to an international audience and specifically to people who are ambitious and self-motivated. These are essential attributes of successful traders so Alpari’s services should excite them.”
Jim O’Toole, CEO of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour, added: “To be collaborating with such a forward-thinking and ambitious organisation as Alpari is extremely exciting. We know from our research that the World Match Racing Tour’s fan base provides the perfect audience for Alpari to engage with and build its customer base. The partnership further underlines the strength of the Tour’s commercial proposition and I look forward to working with the Alpari team over the next five years.”
Some of the world’s finest match racers will compete for the Match Racing World Champion title and the USD1.75 million prize pot. Britain has enjoyed back-to-back success with triple Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie winning in 2010, followed by Ian Williams who captured his third world title in 2011.

Changes to the MetaTrader Clock Settings
Dear Client,
Due to overwhelming client demand we will be making changes to the MetaTrader clock settings that will give you an extra hour to trade each week.
What is happening?
The MetaTrader clock on your platform will be switching from Central European Time (CET, GMT+2) to Eastern European Time (EET, GMT+3). The change will take effect at 0:00 EET Monday, 2 April 2012 (21:00 GMT, 22:00 BST Sunday).
What does this mean for you?
This small change will bring Alpari (UK) trading times into line with more markets for more clients. The greatest effect of this change will be at the weekly opening of the markets. You'll now have an extra hour to place stops and limits or to adjust a position in response to any major market movements in the first hour of trading.
If you use an Expert Advisor (EA) which requires the GMT offset to be manually input, please ensure that this is adjusted to GMT+3 to reflect this change before the markets open.
We suggest on the first week this takes effect you pay special attention to your closing positions on Friday, 30 March and opening positions Sunday, 1 April 2012.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your Client Services Team on +44 (0)20 7426 2900 or [email protected].
Kind regards,
Alex

Alpari (UK) launches live MetaTrader 5 platform
Alpari (UK) launches the live MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform with market depth and one-click trading. Traders can choose from 34 currency pairs plus spot gold and silver. MT5 is a completely new trading software designed by MetaQuotes Corp. and not an upgrade of the MetaTrader 4 platform.
The key benefits of MT5 trading with Alpari (UK) include:
* Non-dealing desk (NDD) execution with access to multiple liquidity providers (bank liquidity)
* Direct market access (DMA) and market depth to analyse market liquidity
* One-click trading and no re-quotes for speed of execution
* Spreads from 0 pips and up to 1:500 leverage
* New order types and advanced order expiration types including “fill or kill”
Alpari (UK) offers MT5 on the new ECN account that requires a minimum deposit of just USD200. For trades opened and closed by 1 July 2012, Alpari (UK) will charge no commission. From 2 July 2012 commission charges will apply.
With MT5 traders can apply their Expert Advisor (EA) strategies in a highly efficient way. EAs are mechanical systems that allow traders to fully automate their trading processes and analytical activities to execute trades more efficiently.
The new MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester enables traders to test and optimise EA strategies in minutes rather than hours. In order to optimise EAs, traders use historical data to find out how well a particular EA strategy would have performed in the past. This is the so-called backtesting. Many tests and strategy modifications are necessary before an EA is ready to be applied to a Live account. The Strategy Tester gives traders access to a remote computer cluster and the calculation capacity of thousands of computers all over the world to accelerate the optimisation process.
MT5 Market gives traders access to apps for the MT5 Terminal, for example technical indicators, EAs, control panels and analysis systems.
Find out more about the new ECN account, take a look at the FAQs and download MT5 to get all these benefits.

Can anybody share some experience with MT5 iOS trader?
I'm always a bit sceptical especially when it comes to new platforms like MT5. I had no issues with MT4 though.

Important News for MT4 Users
From 1 June 2012, MetaQuotes, the provider of the MetaTrader 4 platform, will cease providing support for MT4 terminals earlier than build 416.
According to MetaQuotes, client terminals below build 416 will not be able to connect to trade servers which means that updates and trading will be disabled.
How do I know if I need to upgrade?
If you're not sure whether you need to upgrade or not, it's easy to find out which version you are using:
• Go to the "Help" menu in the MT4 toolbar
• Select "About"
• The build number is noted in the left hand side of the "About" window
• If you see a build number lower than 416, you will need to upgrade
Upgrading is simple
If you do need to upgrade, you can quickly download the latest version of Metatrader 4.

Record number of spectators at season opener of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour
The Alpari World Match Racing Tour is well and truly under way: Over 40,000 sailing fans visited the Tour at Match Race Germany in Langenargen at Lake Constance, up from 35,000 in previous years.
For the first time, the event featured the Alpari Clubhouse, an eye-catching venue with a rooftop terrace for interviews with the skippers, demo Forex trading terminals and the Currency Catch cube which spectators had to conquer to take part in our prize draw to win an iPod nano. Four-times Tour Champion Peter Gilmour and young Kiwi, Phil Robertson, were among the skippers who visited the stand during the event.
Alpari (UK) COO David Stuart said, "This is the start we hoped for. It's the first event since we signed our five-year title sponsorship of the Tour and we had a record number of spectators and very exciting hull-to-hull racing on the lake. The spectators and the Tour gave us a really warm welcome and we were delighted to chat to many sailing fans at the Alpari stand. The Forex trading demonstrations and the Currency Catch game proved to be a big hit and we were delighted to offer rides on the yachts to some of the fans who visited our stand."
Kiwi teams off to a flying start
Spectators were treated to 88 exciting racing duels in Langenargen. Phil Robertson led his WAKA Racing Team to victory over Laurie Jury and his Kiwi Match Sailing crew in an all-Kiwi final. Between races, Phil even found the time and energy to have a go at the Currency Catch game and he also placed some practice Forex trades on our demo trading account with Alpari (Deutschland) CEO Heiko Müller.
Visit Alpari at the Tour
Throughout the season, the Alpari team will be on hand to demonstrate the opportunities that online Forex trading can provide to the Tour's large global fan base. At various events this includes two demo trading terminals at the Alpari Clubhouse where spectators can try out Meta Trader 4 (MT4), one of the popular high-tech trading platforms offered by Alpari. Alpari representatives will show visitors how to trade Forex and use research tools, which support better-informed trading decisions.

Greek election on Sunday – high volatility expected in the markets
This Sunday, on 17 June 2012, the Greek voters will yet again go to the polls, trying to elect a new parliament that would be able to form a functional government. Essentially, it’s a vote between two options: Greece staying in the eurozone, or exiting. Whatever the outcome, please be aware that we may see big gaps when the Forex markets open on Sunday night, followed by high levels of volatility.
High volatility can create trading opportunities. This is not only expected to affect the euro but also other currencies around the world, therefore it can be beneficial to keep following the markets closely. Remember, the polls open in Greece on Sunday at 4:00 GMT (5:00 BST) and close at 16:00 GMT (17:00 BST), and speculation about the outcome will begin immediately after the initial results start coming in.
High volatility also increases risks, so it’s advisable to adjust your trading strategies to compensate for the market. Please also be aware that high volatility could trigger stop orders that you may have in place. If you don’t have any stops in place, we strongly suggest you apply them to limit your potential losses. High volatility may also result in significantly wider or tighter spreads. We advise you to check your open orders and positions and take necessary precautions.
Please also take a minute to read the risk management section of the Alpari (UK) website and take advantage of our wide range of research tools.
