$10000 is an unrealistic figure for many of first time investors and may scare off more people to this than not Dick.

Started off with $7,500. made it over a few times, lost it and working on re-organizing / re evaluating and going back to what worked before.

Only on demo trading but a friend of mine can't remember the size of his account, only the feeling of devastation when he lost it.
But that did not stop him from trading, said that blowing up the first account was actually worth it in the long run.

I must say that forex is cool business but it is filled with paths that must be threaded with caution. i could say that $3000 is a safe amount to start with

This is actually a great thread! Honest post can save a lot of money to newbie traders...
I lost like 1000 USD on Zulu. Before that I lost about 300 USD on my first account... then started to take it seriously and learned more... now from 170 USD to 2300 (as of now) in three and smt monhts. But with strict MM, SLs and so on... The learning process is neccessary, to somebody it could take a few months, to me it took yearsLive it or leave it!

I jumped in just over a year ago and lost $500.00. By the time I realized I was still wet under the collar I had lost another $600.00.
I have been paper trading since then now 11 months. Even though I'm now making money paper trading I'm not doing any real trading until another three months maybe four.

I deposited $2000 into my first Forex account and I am doing really well with the same initial deposit.
