Re: please delete my account
I've been a member for a couple years now, but I'm suddenly getting hit with a unsolicited spam of the newsletter variety:
08-Feb-2011 [email protected] 18K Forex Today's Levels and Trades from Yesterday
10-Feb-2011 [email protected] 17K Forex Today's Levels and Trades from Yesterday
14-Feb-2011 [email protected] 18K Forex Feb 14 Levels and Trades from Yesterday
16-Feb-2011 [email protected] 17K Forex Feb 15 Levels and Trades from Yesterday
17-Feb-2011 [email protected] 18K Forex Feb 17 Levels
20-Feb-2011 [email protected] 14K Forex Feb 17 Levels
23-Feb-2011 [email protected] 16K Weekly FX Review Feb 23
13-Mar-2011 [email protected] 14K Weekly Forex March 13
20-Mar-2011 [email protected] 15K Weekly Forex March 19
I don't feel I should have to proactively make an effort to stop spam -- but I started down that path of looking for all the control panel options that somehow got set to spam, and found that I could not fix one setting without being forced to answer questions like "am I an advanced trader". I don't want to take a survey. Please just delete my account. In the worst case I can blackhole the mail, but I'd rather be removed.
Thank you.

FOREXFORUMS.COM DOES NOT SPAM
jgombos, you and I are in total agreement, if they are "spam" in your opinion then it is your clear and unequivocal right to make them stop. As the administrator, officially this is not spam, these are advertisement-free conveyances of information about currencies, levels, and recent posts, and is part of our user agreement when signing up that you may receive some of these from time to time unless you set in your control panel to shut off all communications (or some) with this site, but I am not splitting hairs here, if you don't want to receive them you don't have to, if you don't want to belong here anymore you don't have to. We are just not trying (nor do we indirectly) earn a profit of off of our members, I want to make that clear nor, in my opinion do we spam for sending out 8 messages all year that contains nothing but Forex information designed to help you trade which is the reason (I surmise) people wanting to learn to trade and current traders join in the first place. jgombos, we have had almost every broker on earth ask us to put their link in a newlsetter (which we never even employed until recently) since the board began and turned down each request, because above all I am a trader and internet user and do not like getting ads in my mailbox either; I literally run this board as I would want it to be run for me, treat others the way you'd be treated in other words, that is a big part of how we operate.
So we're on your side, I'm personally on your side, I'm on the side of anti-spam and we do not send you ads, we do not share your information with anyone at all, this is a completely safe forum in almost all ways, I just worry about third parties that abuse the site on a constant basis (I worry that is), and am monitoring the forum for unwanted ads and such, so, truthfully everyone's best interest is in mind here when it comes to spam and privacy.
We just don't spam.
Thank you for all of you coming to the defense of the forum, there is no need to get emotional on any end here, there is nothing to defend or be offended by truthfully, this is a good forum with good intentions both now and in the future and value each and every membership that exists on this board. We are not trying to make people go out of their way to decline our messages, when you sign up most of these things are checked off and I just as before denouncing ForexForums.com as a spamming site to control what the forum sends to you via your own user control panels. Moreover, any additional information is optional that you want to share with the forum and still kept private.
Thanks.

Re: please delete my account
Lol "control panel got set to spam" .... that just isn't true, i've been here as long as you man and my control panel never got set to spam me
. This is what is getting me about this guy, all he ever came here to do was b**** about instaforex how awful they are and never came back again, years ago, now he's causing all this drama for what, because he got 5 or 6 newsletters from here in 3 months? I got one email from ForexForums this entire month!!! SPAM? and what was in it, news updates about the Yen, im looking at exactly what hes complaining about, this just aint spam!
PLUS IT HELPED ME UNDERSTAND A LOT ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE MARKET RIGHT NOW = COMPLETELY USEFUL.
Like, why come on here and cause so much discorse when this is one of the only places that doesn't profit off your demise in Forex because every problem that came up with this place was always fixed, what are you really upset about? The instaforex thing? They have one thread here and a banner, ************* is an entire forum owned semi-subversively by Instaforex, go complain on there, see how many emails you get on a daily basis whether you want to or not, set up a spam blocker account for any other forex forum see the bull**** you get in your mail. Did you not hear me even say I complained (in private) to the admins because I was getting so many mails and they even set it to off for everyone, preventing unwanted emails in the thousands to thousands of members past present and future, but one email is spam? I know the admins now, I know they could have left that feature on and got massive hits every day to this site, they won't say that but ill say it to defend them, so why would they go out of there way to spam you to do the same on a ridiculously more infrequent level when the way the forum was set up by default could easily send you an email every time someone posts a reply to you here? One email a month and you complain? Go sign up for ******************* or fxfisherman or something and see the daily bull**** you get, I'm not kidding, I belong to them all. I don't know why people are so protective of their email accounts against things completely designed to help them, annoying to see if too much, but not malicious at all.
I can't lie and say I wasn't annoyed by forex forums by thousands of emails when my thousands of posts I subscribed to were replied to over the years, but i never got spammed by this forum, never got an unwanted email, never got this forum pushing me some crap I don't need, and very few forums can say the same, all other forums make a living off of pushing on to us products that just suck, and this place doesn't, individuals might but you just dont get emails or ads in your face about this going to make you rich or that going to make you the best trader, 100%% a day returns, it just isn't like that here that's why i post so much and know this place is going places because never did I hear anyone fill my own head with fairy tales of the market like most forums, at least not in any official capacity, have any of you? Did these' spam messages really offend you or is it the instaforex thing? I guess we'll never know.
Save the drama for Obama (2012).
But to mike, I find deleting my comment about deleting things to be so redundantly rude

Re: Our new newsletter feature: YOU CAN OPT IN/OUT.
Well, the most troubling part for me is more members (a few dozen) complained about not receiving it because we had done it so infrequently. Jgmbos is bringing up a list of newsletters we sent as a test run the first week we installed it, I see that now, and then the latest one about the Fukushima disaster and its affect on the Yen.
Again I do not consider this spam, we do not change people's controls in their User Panel to spam them, this is opt in or opt out, so if you think they are spam we apologize and this is truthfully not our intention, we do not earn money through this website that way (if at all).
Thanks everyone, we just want you to enjoy the site and learn to trade your own way with the information we and third may parties provide.
