Guys , forget about the news and about whizbang indicators ,they are all doing the same thing ,it is not about the news it is about a strategy , it is about a trading plan , it is about emotional control ,that's is all about ,don' t mind the news , it will confuse you , just find a suitable strategy for your trading personality and use over and over again

I think the original question for this post is valid and worth serious discussion. However after skimming through a number of replies it seems like it got way off track.

Forgive me if what I'm saying here has already been discussed. I quit reading after the 15th post!

I've looked at hundreds of indicators over the years and have actually created hundreds of my own (with TradeStation, not Metatrader). None of them, and no combination of them really made for profitable trading.

Eventually I "cleaned up" my charts and just looked at just one indicator: the candlesticks themselves. I used the crosshairs to check support/resistance levels over various time frames, and I simply eyeballed the trend.

More importantly I used good money management ( lot sizing, or leverage, however you want to call it).

Also be aware that there are a number of types of "indicators"

the ones on the charts themselves are the real "indicators" (e.g. moving average)
the ones beneath the charts are called "studies" (e.g. RSI)

EAs (expert advisors) can be used as indicators, or for autotrading. Before you buy any EA you should spend a LOT of time learning as much as you can about the standard indicators. otherwise it may be intimidating or confusing when you first install the one you buy.

All in all, I think forex prices are driven more by the "accumulation of news" than by specific formulas (which are behind all indicators). So before you go live, get your news from good sources, watch how it affects prices, and get a feel for which news announcements have the most gravity.

It sounds like a lot of work. It is. But it also becomes second nature, given time.
