Market - Bearish or Bullish?

Occasionall I check out a guy who provides trading signals only in terms of saying if the market is bullish or bearish, sometimes qualifying his statement by saying VERY bullish or bearish
It is not difficult to tell if one is in an up or down trend... but at what point can you predict the continuation of such trend? it can turn at any time surely. I have great difficulty determining to stay in a trade for a longer time when it retraces some for fear of being stopped out. One can ofcourse use a very deep stop loss, but that defeats the object of the excercise. If stopped out, it reverses all the profits from smaller trades.
I am eager to, learn please.

What time frames are you, or he, trying to trade? Daily? Interday? Longer term, weekly?
